Elvis Saravia, Ph.D.

Founder and Lead Instructor

Elvis is a co-founder of DAIR.AI, where he leads all AI research, education, and engineering efforts. Elvis holds a Ph.D. in computer science, specializing in NLP and language models. His primary interests are training and evaluating large language models and developing scalable applications with LLMs. He co-created the Galactica LLM at Meta AI and supported and advised world-class teams like FAIR, PyTorch, and Papers with Code. Prior to this, he was an education architect at Elastic where he developed technical curriculum and courses on solutions such as Elasticsearch, Kibana, and Logstash.

OVERVIEW

This course focuses on a hands-on approach to building and deploying agentic applications using Replit Agent and n8n.

After completing the course, students will know how to integrate advanced n8n agentic workflows within Replit apps generated by Replit Agent.

PREREQUISITES

This is a beginner course, and students will need to install several tools and sign up for the following services:

  • Replit
  • n8n
  • OpenRouter
  • Exa API

We provide more instructions on how to set up and use these tools and services in the course.

SYLLABUS

Course Introduction

  • Get a complete overview of the course project: building a fully functional, end-to-end deep research agentic application.
  • Understand the core technologies you'll use: Replit Agent to build the front-end and n8n to create the powerful backend workflow.


Building Agentic Workflows

  • Learn to set up the essential backend services, including creating accounts for n8n, OpenRouter for multi-model access, and Exa API for web search.
  • Import and configure the provided n8n agentic workflow, which acts as the intelligent backend for your application.
  • Understand the architecture of the deep research agent, including a Search Planner, an Orchestrator, and a sub-workflow for executing searches, all connected via a webhook.


Building the App with Replit Agent

  • Learn to use Replit Agent, an AI-powered tool, to build a complete front-end web application from a single, detailed text prompt—without writing any code.
  • Craft an effective prompt for the agent, providing it with the necessary context like your n8n webhook URL and expected data formats to ensure a successful build.
  • Master the iterative process of testing and debugging the generated application by providing feedback and error messages directly to the Replit Agent to fix issues.


Deploying Agentic Apps

  • Prepare your application for production by learning to secure sensitive information, like webhook URLs, as secret environment variables.
  • Learn how to activate your n8n workflow for production use and deploy your entire agentic application to a live, public URL with a single click using Replit's built-in deployment feature.
  • Explore next steps and advanced features you can add to your application, such as UI improvements, search history, and result caching to enhance its functionality.
