Instructor

Elvis Saravia, Ph.D.

Founder and Lead Instructor

Elvis is a co-founder of DAIR.AI, where he leads all AI research, education, and engineering efforts. Elvis holds a Ph.D. in computer science, specializing in NLP and language models. His primary interests are training and evaluating large language models and developing scalable applications with LLMs. He co-created the Galactica LLM at Meta AI and supported and advised world-class teams like FAIR, PyTorch, and Papers with Code. Prior to this, he was an education architect at Elastic where he developed technical curriculum and courses on solutions such as Elasticsearch, Kibana, and Logstash.

Build and improve real-world AI agents with proven techniques.

OVERVIEW

After completing this course, you will have a systematic framework for building powerful products and projects with AI agents for personal and professional use.

This course is built for anyone interested in building agentic systems. We welcome devs and professionals (without coding backgrounds) interested in building with AI agents.

🚨This live cohort has limited seats available!🚨

This is a flipped classroom setting. All lessons are professionally edited and recorded, with an emphasis on live office hours and student interactions.

Course recordings and materials will remain available to students indefinitely.

SYLLABUS

Module 1: Course Introduction

  • Preparations

  • Setting up tools

Module 2: Building AI Agents (First Look)

  • Learn to build common AI workflows with n8n

  • Learn to build advanced agentic workflows with n8n

  • AI Workflows vs. Agentic Workflows

Module 3: Context Engineering for AI Agents

  • Learn to apply the latest context engineering tactics and prompting engineering techniques to AI Agents

Module 4: Augmented AI Agents

  • Overview of how to effectively augment AI Agents with tools, retrieval, reasoning, and MCP servers

  • Learn to build Agentic RAG systems

Module 5: Building Multi-Agent Systems

  • Build a real-world advanced multi-agent system using everything learned so far

  • Students will select and build a final project from a list of suggested agentic systems

Module 6: Evaluating AI Agents

  • Learn how to monitor and debug your agentic systems and the benefits of doing so

  • Learn key evaluation techniques and tips for evaluating AI agents (e.g., LLM-as-a-Judge, heuristic metrics)

  • Build robust evaluation pipelines to systematically improve your agentic systems

Module 7: Optimizing AI Agents

  • Apply industry best practices for optimizing AI Agents

  • Learn to effectively add memory and guardrails to AI Agents

  • Learn an effective framework to review and select models

  • Apply techniques to improve latency and reduce costs

Module 8: Deploying Agentic Applications

  • Learn important considerations for deploying production-grade agentic systems, like latency, cost, security, privacy, deployment solutions, etc.

  • Discuss options for how to build a front-end application for your agentic systems, how to enhance user experience, and other considerations

  • Prepare your agentic systems to be deployed live for user testing and feedback

  • Build an agentic application that would help either for work or for personal use

PREREQUISITES & TOOLS

There will be little theory in this course.

We are providing prerecordings, materials, and exercises for students to review, learn, and apply concepts.

All modules will be followed by a live office hour to answer questions and help provide support to students. We will also provide asynchronous support and guidance in the community forum.

Tech stack:

  • We will be using n8n as the main tool for orchestrating agentic systems. Students will use the n8n cloud version.
  • Other integrations and tools will be used, such as the web search tool called Exa. We will provide more details about all the tools that will be used in the course preparation.
  • The main LLMs you will use are Claude, Gemini, and OpenAI models. We recommend that students set up an account on OpenRouter to get access to different models from one service (https://openrouter.ai/). The expected cost for token use will be relatively low for this course ($10-$15).
  • For model embeddings, you will require a paid OpenAI account (with at least $5 credit).
  • To build and deploy the agentic application, you will need access to a front-end app builder (e.g., Replit or Lovable). We use Replit Agent in the course and recommend subscribing to the Replit Core tier for one month. This should be enough to complete the final project (more details in the course).

OTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS

We will host live, weekly office hours to address questions regarding the course material, provide support, and have deeper discussions.

Certificates of Completion are available after the course ends.

Reach out to [email protected] if you have any questions. Contact us if you have a team; we are happy to offer discounts and help with onboarding.
